About Gambling Standard

Independent news and analysis for a safer, stronger gambling industry.

Who we are

Gambling Standard is independently operated by the editorial team behind it. We report on the rules, companies and markets that shape gambling, and hold them to a clear standard of accountability.

Articles are credited to the Gambling Standard Newsroom rather than to individual bylines.

What we cover

  • Industry — Operators, suppliers and trade bodies: product launches, partnerships, compliance moves and how the gambling industry works.
  • Regulation — Gambling legislation, licensing decisions, regulator guidance and enforcement action in the UK, Europe and beyond.
  • Casinos — Land-based casinos and resorts, online casino products and the rules that govern casino gaming.
  • Sports Betting — Sportsbooks, betting markets, sponsorship deals with sport, integrity issues and the regulation of betting.
  • Business — Company results, mergers and acquisitions, investment, taxation and the financial health of gambling businesses.
  • Analysis — In-depth explainers on reforms, market data and long-term trends, setting out what changes mean and for whom.
  • Opinion — Editorial comment and argument on gambling policy, player protection and the standards the industry should meet.

How our reporting is made

We use AI assistance to research and draft our reporting from cited public sources. Automated checks then compare every draft with its sources before it is published, so that each figure, date, name and quotation can be traced back.

No checking process is perfect. When something is wrong, we fix it and mark the article as updated.

The details are in our editorial policy.

What we do not do

  • We do not publish betting tips, odds advice or rankings of casinos, bookmakers or bonuses.
  • We do not promote gambling, and nothing on this site is aimed at anyone under 18.
  • We do not mix paid content with reporting: sponsored posts are labelled “Sponsored” (see Write for us).
